Return & Refund Policy

At Shohin Shed Bonsai, we take great pride in the quality and care of every bonsai tree and product we ship. Each item is carefully inspected before leaving our shop to ensure it arrives in excellent condition.
Inspection Upon Delivery
To be eligible for any return, refund, replacement, or shipping damage claim, customers must record a continuous video while opening the package and take clear photographs of:
- The unopened package showing the shipping label
- The packaging materials
- The item immediately upon opening
- Any damage to the item or packaging
Failure to provide both video and photographic evidence may result in denial of a return, refund, or replacement request.
We require this documentation because we only ship products that have passed our quality inspection. Proof of damage caused during transit allows us to file claims directly with the shipping carrier on your behalf.
Damaged or Incorrect Items
If your order arrives damaged or you receive the wrong item, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with:
- Your order number
- Opening video
- Clear photographs of the damage or incorrect item
- A description of the issue
Once reviewed, we will determine the appropriate resolution, which may include a replacement, store credit, or refund.
Returns
Returns may be accepted within 14 days of delivery for eligible non-living products in their original condition and packaging.
To initiate a return, please contact us before shipping any item back.
Return Shipping
Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error.
We recommend using a trackable shipping service, as Shohin Shed Bonsai is not responsible for returns lost in transit.
Refunds
Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we will notify you regarding the approval or denial of your refund.
If approved, customers must provide the preferred method and destination for receiving their refund. Refunds may be issued through the original payment method when possible or another mutually agreed-upon method.
Please allow several business days for processing after approval.
Non-Returnable Items
The following items are generally not eligible for return:
- Bonsai trees damaged due to improper care after delivery
- Items without required opening video and photo documentation
- Items returned without prior authorization
- Customized or personalized products
- Clearance or final-sale items
Live Bonsai Trees & Living Plant Material
Bonsai trees and other living plant materials are perishable products that require proper care and environmental conditions after delivery. Because factors such as watering, sunlight, temperature, humidity, and general care are outside of our control once an item has been delivered, we generally do not accept returns or provide refunds for healthy trees that arrive in good condition.
If a bonsai tree or live plant arrives damaged due to shipping, customers must notify us within 48 hours of delivery and provide:
- A continuous video of the package being opened
- Clear photographs of the shipping box, packaging materials, and the damaged tree
- The order number and a description of the damage
Claims submitted without the required video and photographic evidence may not be eligible for a refund, replacement, or shipping damage claim.
Shohin Shed Bonsai carefully inspects and photographs all live trees prior to shipment to ensure they are healthy and properly packaged before leaving our facility.
We reserve the right to deny claims for damage resulting from improper care, delayed reporting, repotting, pruning, neglect, weather exposure after delivery, or other conditions beyond our control.
